Jack Cheng
Non-executive Director, Hong Kong
BEng, MPhil, PhD, CAP, MHKIBIM, AMASCE
He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He obtained his Bachelor's degree with First Class Honors and his MPhil degree from HKUST and then obtained his Ph.D. degree from Stanford University.
His research interests include building information modeling (BIM), 3D geographical information system (GIS), Internet of Things (IoT), construction and facility management, data mining, construction informatics, smart city, green buildings, carbon footprinting, and sustainable construction. His research has been published in various international journals and conferences.
He teaches BIM, Construction ICT, and Construction Management at HKUST. He is currently the Chair of ASCE Global Center for Excellence in Computing, Chairman of Autodesk Industry Advisory Board (AIAB), Treasurer and Director of ASCE Hong Kong Section, Alternate Director of Hong Kong R&D Center for LSCM, Co-opted Committee Member of Hong Kong Institute of Utilities Specialists (HKIUS), Editor or Editorial Board Member of several international journals, a Professional Member of Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modeling (HKIBIM), and a Certified Carbon Auditor Professional.
He has received the Young BIMer of the Year BIM Excellence Award 2014 from the Hong Kong Construction Industry Council, and a few research and paper awards in international conferences and other occasions. He is an author of over 150 referred publications in journals and conferences.
